The Fall Risk - A Short Story by Abby Jimenez

This is my first toe dip into the Jimenez pool and I am so glad that I got a taste of Abby Jimenez’s prose through this short story!

Synopsis

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend, and Charlotte and Seth are not looking for romance. Armed with emotional-support bear spray, Charlotte is in self-imposed isolation and on guard from men. Having a stalker can do that to a person’s nerves. Just across the hall and giving off woodsy vibes is Seth, a recently divorced arborist. As in today recently. Heights, he’s fine with. Trust? Not so much. But when disaster traps them one flight up and no way down, an outrageously precarious predicament forces a tree-loving guy and a rattled girl next door to embrace their captivity. Soon their defenses are breaking away. Considering how close they both are to the edge, Charlotte and Seth could be in danger of falling—in love. - Goodreads

My Thoughts

Damn AJ can write a good novella. I thought this was such an adorable short story and I really felt as if Jimenez could have made a full novel exploring Charlotte's stalker situation and we could have gotten so many more cute moments with Seth and Charlotte. I even loved the side characters, Izzy and Gabe. They could have had their own sequel. WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALLLLLL.

Jimenez might be one of my new favourite romance authors and I see rave reviews all over youtube and tiktok, I get why. I never thought 10 years ago I'd be a romance girlie but here we are. I'm no Mills and Boon reader but give me contempory heartwarming romance and a cup of tea and I'm set.

Overrall this was such a sweet and fast paced gem, that I highly recommend if you need a palette cleanser for any reading reason.
