Thank you to Pan MacMillian and Tor Books for a review copy of Bookshops & Bonedust for today's book tour stop!

Bookshop & Bonedust is a standalone and a prequel to Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. It's a perfect book for those who love a cosy fantasy. Being a prequel, it's a perfect opportunity to be introduced to the world Baldree has created. I had a lovely time, drinking a fair few cups of tea and being acquainted with Viv and friends.

Viv, a hired mercenery and orc is wounded during a hunt for a powerful necromancer and takes time to recouperate in the town of Murk. As she remains in Murk she finds herself reading books she has been recommended by the towns bookshop owner, a rattkin named Fern and Fern's pet who is half owl, half dog called Potroast, she finds herself helping the shop with various jobs until adventure finds her again in the form of a suspicious traveller, a summer fling and a creature made of bones, proving the town of Murk to be more eventful than Viv expected.

As someone who hasn't read Legends and Lattes before this, I loved every second. I'm no stranger to fantasy novels but this one felt like a warm hug after a long day.

I'm a gamer and this book gave me such Palia vibes (if you need a fantasy cosy game to play, I highly recommend this too) When jumping into this book I had no idea it would also have a super cute lgbtq+ romance and make me chuckle as much as it did.
The town of Murk definitley has a mix of eclcetic characters to enjoy reading about and it's the cosiest book I've read so far this year. The concept that Viv is reading books recommended to her reminds me of "blind date with a book" and I love that Fern can tell what Viv will love to read the moment they meet. I find the bookshop is a little love letter to all of us who are readers. Aside from the bookshop, we are introduced to Maylee who is the owner and the town's baker. Viv ends up eating many yummy treats that Maylee makes and I could see myself popping into her shop for some baked treats and heading to the bookshop to find my newest book to read. I wish I could walk around the town myself.

I loved the relationships within the group. Satchel and Fern being my favourites. I'd like to know who is your favourite if you have read this book, let me know in the comments.

I will be picking up Legends and Lattes to read next this autumn to find out more about Viv's adventures and I can't wait to see what else Travis Baldree writes next.

If you want to delve into fantasy books but don't want to start a 6 book series with a complicated magic system and lore dumping during chapters then this book is a perfect way to start reading cosy fantasy. It's an easy read, full of lovable characters and cosy moments.
